This has been a very challenging year for Somalia, where the heart of our work is located. October's devastating twin-bomb attacks in Somalia's capital Mogadishu, killed over 500 people and injured more than 500 others. This was the worst terrorist attack in recent history, anywhere in the world, since 9/11. Though our primary focus is on hope and building joy, we simply cannot escape the fact that our work takes place in one of the most dangerous and challenges places in the world. Sadly, many of those we know were directly affected. Our heart-felt sympathies and prayers are with their families and all those still recovering.
Happy Hearts facilitators were among the first to respond with providing means for emergency care, such as medical treatment, as well as emotional support. We are currently strategizing how to bring long-term support to those who were affected, such as creating regular income for widows and educational support for orphans. There is still time to give if you would like to partner with us in restoration. Please be sure to designate your gift to disaster relief on our donate page.
